What does God say about heaven in the Bible?
God created us and all the world that includes heaven.
"In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth." Genesis 1:1
"By the word of the Lord the heavens were made, and all the host of them by the breath of His mouth." Psalms 33:6
Jesus said I
go to prepare a place for you and in the Father’s house there are many mansions.
"Let not your heart be troubled; you believe in God, believe also in Me.
In My Father’s house are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you.
And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself; that where I am, there you may be also." John 14:1-3
The Word of the living God is our life and our
salvation. Whenever we have questions about life, we can go to God‘s word and
find the answers.
The Bible says we are seated in heavenly places with Christ Jesus. If we’re
already seated in heaven, God has provided us the privilege of visiting heaven.
John the
revelator visited heaven and saw many things. He said, he didn't know whether he was in the body or in the spirit.
God is no respecter of persons. If one person can visit heaven, so can other Christians. Father God provides all his children the same privileges.
There are lots of scriptures in the Bible that mention heaven. Let's look at a few of these wonderful gifts from God.
These scriptures are from the New King James Bible.
"For our citizenship is in heaven, from which we also eagerly wait for the Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ," Philippians 3:20
We come to God trusting Him with our whole heart. Then we can sit with Him in heavenly places.
But Jesus said, “Let the little children come to Me, and do not forbid them; for of such is the kingdom of heaven.” Matthew 19:14
"Blessed are the pure in heart, For they shall see God." Matthew 5:8
Heaven sounds glorious!
"The twelve gates were twelve pearls: each individual gate was of one pearl. And the street of the city was pure gold, like transparent glass.
But I saw no temple in it, for the Lord God Almighty and the Lamb are its temple.
The city had no need of the sun or of the moon to shine in it, for the glory of God illuminated it. The Lamb is its light.
And the nations of those who are saved shall walk in its light, and the kings of the earth bring their glory and honor into it.
Its gates shall not be shut at all by day (there shall be no night there).
And they shall bring the glory and the honor of the nations into it." Revelation 21:21-26
Heaven in the Bible is an awesome place! Here is the throne room.
"...a throne set in heaven, and One sat on the throne.
And He who sat there was like a jasper and a sardius stone in appearance; and there was a rainbow around the throne, in appearance like an emerald.
Around the throne were twenty-four thrones, and on the thrones I saw twenty-four elders sitting, clothed in white robes; and they had crowns of gold on their heads.
And from the throne proceeded lightnings, thunderings, and voices. Seven lamps of fire were burning before the throne, which are the seven Spirits of God.
Before the throne there was a sea of glass, like crystal.
The first living creature was like a lion, the second living creature like a calf, the third living creature had a face like a man, and the fourth living creature was like a flying eagle.
The four living creatures, each having six wings, were full of eyes around and within. And they do not rest day or night, saying:
“Holy, holy, holy, Lord God Almighty, Who was and is and is to come!”
Whenever the living creatures give glory and honor and thanks to Him who sits on the throne, who lives forever and ever,
the twenty-four elders fall down before Him who sits on the throne and worship Him who lives forever and ever, and cast their crowns before the throne, saying:
“You are worthy, O Lord, To receive glory and honor and power; For You created all things, And by Your will they exist and were created.” Revelation 4: 2b-11
"And he showed me a pure river of water of life, clear as crystal, proceeding from the throne of God and of the Lamb.
In the middle of its street, and on either side of the river, was the tree of life, which bore twelve fruits, each tree yielding its fruit every month. The leaves of the tree were for the healing of the nations.
And there shall be no more curse, but the throne of God and of the Lamb shall be in it, and His servants shall serve Him.
They shall see His face, and His name shall be on their foreheads.
There shall be no night there: They need no lamp nor light of the sun, for the Lord God gives them light. And they shall reign forever and ever." Revelation 22:1-5
"But God, who is rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us,
even when we were dead in trespasses, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved),
and raised us up together, and made us sit together in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus," Ephesians 2:4-6
"I know a man in Christ who fourteen years ago - whether in the body I do not know, or whether out of the body I do not know, God knows - such a one was caught up to the third heaven." 2 Corinthians 12:2
God lives in the third heaven. He is no respecter of persons. That means we can visit heaven like John did. What He does for one, He is happy to do for us.
God has already given us a seat in heaven.
"But God, who is rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us, even when we were dead in trespasses, made us alive together with Christ,
and raised us up together, and made us sit together in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus," Ephesians 2:4-6
God call John up to heaven. We have the same privilege of visiting heaven.
"For our citizenship is in heaven, from which we also eagerly wait for the Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ," Philippians 3:20
God's children have the privilege of visiting heaven. We become a child of God by accepting Jesus into our heart.
Don't just read about heaven in the Bible. Why not go for a visit?
